How to Choose a Pro

How To Choose a Professional Home Improvement Contractor

Questions to ask when choosing a contractor:

How much experience does the Contractor have? Be sure to choose a contractor that has an established business and has been in business for quite a number of years. Local firms can be checked through references from past customers in the community. Another important factor to consider is will the contractor show up on time and do what they say they will do.

Does the Contractor have proof of insurance? A viable contractor will have comprehensive liability insurance and worker's compensation insurance to protect you in the event of an accident. This can be verified by asking to see the contractor's certificates of insurance.

Is the Contractor licensed? Not all cities require contractors to be licensed, however many of the cities in the state of Kansas do require professional licensing. Be sure to check with your local licensing authority for details. Vernon Wickey, co-owner of Pleasantview Home Improvement is fully licensed with the state of Kansas with a Class A Contractor License. Pleasantview Home Improvement is also a Certified Lead Renovator firm licensed through the EPA and by the State of Kansas to work in homes built before 1978.  Our crew supervisors are also Certifies Lead Renovators, so be sure to protect your family!

How does the Contractor handle payments and project expenses? It is not a good idea to pay for the project in full before completion of the project. Also be sure to ask how the contractor will handle any additional expenses if or when they should occur during the project.

Who will do the installation on your project? Be sure you know who is going to do the work. At Pleasantview Home Improvement all of our installation is done by our factory trained, skilled craftsmen. They will show up on time each day and will finish the project before starting another project.
