Maintenance and Care for your Windows & Doors

Do you have questions about how to take care of your products that we recently installed on your home? Pleasantview Home Improvement is here to help you!

Vinyl Windows

Vinyl Finish: To clean windows , wash with mild soap, (Such as Fantastic) and water. Heavy dirt and stains require stronger cleaning compounds such as vinyl siding cleaner. The surface can be wiped down with solvents such as turpentine, naphtha, nail polish remover and alcohol. Take care as some cleaners may mar or scratch vinyl. Abrasive cleaners will scratch the surface and are not recommended. To protect the finish, spray with vinyl protector such as Amor- All.

Stained or Painted finish: To clean windows , wash with mild soap and water. Rinse with clear water and wipe dry. Keep weatherstrip clean of dirt and grit for proper seal. Apply a light coat of wax (Lemon Pledge) and wipe off excess. For scuff marks on painted finishes, use mild liquid cleaner, rinse with water and wipe dry. If finish is accidentally scratched or chipped, clean as recommended and use touch up paint or standard wood finish crayon.

Maintenance and Care for your Seamless Steel Siding

How to Clean: The "Product" finish is recognized as a reliable and durable coating, but, as with any exterior surface, dirt and mildew may collect on it. Where conditions of soiling do occur, the following instructions will enable you to care for the finish on your "Product". For surface dirt, an occasional wash down with a garden hose and a soft bristle brush is recommended.  In moderately dirty atmosphere, wash in the same manner, but replace clear water with a normal solution of water and normal household detergent. In heavy Industrial atmosphere, use ordinary non-abrasive household detergents, such as 1/3 cup detergent (Tide, for example) and 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (Soilex, or Spic-and-Span) mixed in a gallon of water. Follow cleaning instructions above and manufacturer’s direction. For Mildew accumulation, which can occur on surface of all types (normally appearing as black spots), remove by using the cleaning method for moderately dirty atmospheres and basic solution of the following ingredients: a. 1/3 cup detergent (Tide) b. 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (Soilex) c. 1 quart sodium hypochloride 5% solution (Clorox for example) d. 3 quarts of water
CAUTION: STRONGER CONCENTRATIONS OF CLEANERS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE  FINISH. IMMEDIATELY AFTER WASHING WITH DETERGENT OR OTHER CLEANERS, RINSE ALL SURFACES THOROUGHLY WITH A GARDEN HOSE. AVOID VIGOROUS RUBBING
WHICH MAY CAUSE UNDESIRABLE GLOSS AREAS OF THE FINISH. AVOID SKIN AND EYE CONTACT. IN ALL CASES, FOLLOW MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF CLEANING COMPOUNDS AND SOLUTIONS.

Maintenance and Care for your Seamless Guttering

If your Seamless Guttering should need cleaning, we recommend the following procedures. Particular attention should be given to areas under eaves, porches, awnings, and other overhangs that have limited exposure to the natural washing effect of rainfall. For moderate atmospheric dirt — we recommend an occasional washing with clear water using a garden hose and soft-bristled brush (a long handled, car-washing brush is ideal for this purpose).
